Solar FAQs
Is a Solar Panel Performance Warranty the Same as a System Warranty?
Panel output, equipment defects and installation workmanship need separate warranty checks when buying residential solar.

No. A panel performance warranty addresses a defined output standard under its terms; it is not automatically a promise covering every part of your installed system. Product defects, inverter coverage, installation workmanship and roof-related responsibilities may sit in different documents. Ask for a simple warranty map showing which organisation handles each type of problem and what remedy is available.
Start with the exact panel model
Trinasolar’s global warranty separates product and power-output provisions and applies different terms to specified model groups. [1] A brand logo and a long headline period are therefore insufficient to identify the protection attached to a quote.
Ask for the full module code, the applicable warranty PDF and the regional supply route. Keep these with the equipment schedule. If the installer substitutes a panel before installation, request the replacement datasheet and warranty before accepting the change. Similar wattage does not establish identical warranty terms or service arrangements.
Do not confuse output testing with your bill
A household electricity bill measures purchases and other billed items under the utility arrangement. It is not a laboratory test of one panel’s output. Likewise, a cloudy month or a change in daytime consumption cannot by itself demonstrate that a module has breached its performance warranty.
Record the symptom precisely: a persistent production change, an inverter alarm, visible damage seen safely from the ground or a billing question. Let qualified support identify the relevant measurement and investigation. This prevents a general “solar is underperforming” complaint from being directed to the wrong organisation.

Include installation and roof responsibilities
LONGi’s module manual sets requirements for installation and operation; equipment must be used within its documented conditions. [2] The panel manufacturer’s document does not replace a clear agreement about the installer’s own work.
Ask who handles an installation fault, what workmanship coverage includes and how any roof concern is assessed. Request the scope and exclusions in writing. For an older roof, clarify responsibility for pre-existing defects and any preparatory repair. Avoid relying on a verbal statement that everything is covered for the same period as the modules.
Ask about labour, access and remedies
A remedy may involve repair, replacement or another response defined in the warranty. Do not assume that an approved component claim automatically pays every associated service expense. Ask about diagnosis, removal, transport, roof access and reinstallation, and have unresolved items identified before signing.
For an illustrative two-storey home, gaining safe access can be a material part of service even when a replacement component is available. This is a reason to clarify the service arrangement, not an estimate of what your claim would cost. Written terms make competing quotes easier to compare fairly.

Keep separate dates and contacts
Create one record for panels, one for the inverter, one for storage if included and one for workmanship. Add the start date, registration requirement, support contact and required evidence for each. Save final serial numbers rather than relying solely on the original proposal.
Ask how the process works if your first contact is unavailable. Keep commissioning and maintenance records together with any approved equipment changes. A tidy record cannot guarantee a claim outcome, but it helps the responsible party establish what was installed and which promise applies.
Use a warranty map when choosing a system
Compare quotes using the complete arrangement: equipment coverage, workmanship, service accessibility and documented responsibilities. A shorter but clearly supported installation promise may be easier to understand than an impressive headline with unanswered questions. The decision should reflect the actual terms, not an assumed ranking of brands.
Lightning Energy Philippines can help you separate these commitments while reviewing a residential solar proposal. Ask for a warranty map before purchase and an updated copy at handover. That gives the household a practical reference for future questions without treating a panel performance warranty as unlimited coverage for the entire property.
